John Wayne Kennedy, 75, of Clarksburg, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 in Clarksburg. He was born on September 2, 1949 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Paul K. Kennedy and Pauline Tate Kenney.
He is survived by two sisters, Linda Hill of Mount Clare and Fleta Swiger and husband William of North View; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Joffre Paul Kennedy.
John was a kind and gentle soul known for his love of music, family, and the simple joys of life, He was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him.
He spent a few meaningful years working at the Sheltered Workshop, where he found both purpose and community. Outside of work, he was happiest when the music was playing, especially classic rock and the deep, steady voice of Johnny Cash, whose songs he cherished. He adored his nephews, especially Matt, with whom he shared a special bond. He loved camping trips to Camp Apache, where he found peace in nature, and spent countless hours simply sitting outside, enjoying the world around him. His gentle spirit, bright smile, and the simple joy he took in life’s everyday moments will be deeply missed.
