John Edward Webb, 81, of Salem, WV, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. While his family grieves his absence deeply, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and take comfort knowing John is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
John was born July 30, 1944, in Clarksburg, WV, to the late Olen Edward Webb and Margaret Eileen Husk Webb. He graduated from Bristol High School with the class of 1962 then joined the 1092nd Salem National Guard to serve his country. A welder by trade, he dedicated 27 years of faithful service to CNG Transmission (later known as Dominion Gas) before his retirement.
A devoted Christian and faithful member of Enon Baptist Church, John loved serving the Lord and his community as a church trustee. His faith guided the way he lived his life — with humility, kindness, hard work, and love for others. He found joy in God’s creation through horse riding on the farm, coon hunting, and the excitement of a great fox chase. He also enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Beth, and listening to bluegrass music, especially the sound of the banjo. Above all, John cherished the family God blessed him with and treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Beth Webb, whom he married on July 2, 1982. He leaves behind three children: Daniel “Danny” Webb and wife Annette of Clarksburg, Jeff Webb and wife Opal of Salem, and Clifford Webb and wife Leighanne of Salem.
He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Dakota Kuzrock and husband Keelan of Florida, Zach Webb and Sarah of Clarksburg, and Brett Webb, Garrett Webb, Conner Webb, Anna Webb, and Johnny Webb, all of Salem; three great-grandchildren: Nova Kuzrock, Nash Kuzrock, and Knox Kuzrock; one brother, William “Bill” Webb and wife Gale of Salem; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Moore and wife Jackie; and his beloved dogs, Allie and Angel, who dearly miss him.
As a final act of Christian love, generosity, and service to others, John chose to donate his body to the WVU Human Gift Registry to help further medical education and research, reflecting the compassion and servant’s heart with which he lived his life.
Per John’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date, where loved ones will gather to celebrate his life, his faith in Christ, and the blessed assurance of eternal life through his Savior.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice workers and nurses whose compassion, kindness, and care brought comfort to John and his loved ones during his final days.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
