Jerida was a graduate of Washington Irving, Class of 1977, and spent 30 dedicated years working for Verizon before her retirement. Her caring nature didn’t stop there, she later became an in-home caregiver, offering comfort, patience, and kindness to those who needed it most.
Jerida had a big heart especially for animals. She deeply loved to rescue stray cats and opened her home to many over the years, giving them safety and love. The cats that have passed are, Sadie, Dallas, Rocky, Chance, Zoe, Frisky, Baby, Caesar, Oreo, Samson, Kiffin, Kayzee and Maddie. The cats that she continued to care for are, Titus, Beasley, Romeo and Apache. She found peace and happiness in the simple joys of life, tending to her goldfish pond, relaxing by her pool, gardening, watching birds, and spending meaningful time with her family. She also enjoyed getting pampered at the nail salon, where her warmth and friendliness turned casual visits into lasting friendships. She was an avid football fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the WVU Mountaineers.
Jerida was truly one of a kind. She was generous, giving, selfless, and nonjudgmental, always accepting others just as they were. Her kindness left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her, and she will be deeply missed.
