Jeanne Groves, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, caregiver, and friend, passed away at Cortland Acres in Tucker County, West Virginia, on May 26, 2026. She was born on December 24, 1935, in Sand Fork, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Eva Geraldine McCullough Wilson and Lowell B. Wilson.
Jeanne graduated from Sand Fork High School in 1954. During her senior year, she proudly served as a cheerleader and was known for her spirited personality and love of school activities. From an early age, she had a talent for drawing and went on to complete an art course at Glenville State College. In 1977, Jeanne graduated from Clarksburg Beauty Academy and began a successful career as a beautician that spanned more than twenty years. She fulfilled her dream of owning and operating her own beauty shop, Jeanne's Classy Lady. Her warmth, kindness, and talent made her a beloved fixture in her community. Never one to stop learning or serving others, Jeanne pursued a new career later in life. In 2004, she graduated from United Technical Center as a nurse's aide. She then dedicated approximately twenty years to caring for clients in her home through the Department of Health and Human Services. Providing comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to those in need became one of her greatest callings. Jeanne was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. She valued family, hard work, independence, and helping others, and she touched many lives through her kindness and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and Lowell Wilson; her brothers, Charles Wilson, Gary Wilson, and Harley Wilson; her sister, Patty Crouch; and her beloved daughter, Cathy. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Carol Goodrich and Judy Snider; her children, Jeanne Pierce, Kimberly Rush, Donald Groves, and Ronald Groves; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly.
