James "Wick" Walter Wickenhofer, Sr.

James “Wick” Walter Wickenhofer, Sr., 93 of Clarksburg, went to his eternal home on Sunday, July 19, 2020. He was born November 22, 1926 in Clarksburg, son of the late John Walter and Dolly Critchfield Wickenhofer.

Jim served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was a lifetime member of the Clarksburg VFW Post 573. He worked at Hazel Atlas, Continental Can, Anchor Hocking, and Brockway as a glassworker. He then started his company, “Big John’s Pumping and also Mountaineer Septic. He was Baptist by faith. His hobbies were playing golf, croquet using the preferred black club, shooting pool and always liking to win.  He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed picking on everyone.    

Jim is survived by his wife of seventy one years, Doris Ellen Underwood Wickenhofer; two children, James Wickenhofer Jr. and Iris of Katy Lick, and Sherry Ann McClain and Steve of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Brandon Wickenhofer, Shane Wickenhofer, Autumn Wickenhofer, Ben McClain and fiancée, Raven Cupp; two great grandchildren, Maverick and Jasmine Paugh; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his son, Terry Lynn Wickenhofer; grandson, Corey Wickenhofer; siblings, Paul Wickenhofer, Raymond Wickenhofer, Lillian “Martha” Carnes and John Wickenhofer.

Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr./Rt. 98, Clarksburg on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from 3:00-7:00 with proper distancing and face mask required.  Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 12:30pm. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and US Navy Honor Guard.
