James "Jim" Kidd Obituary

James "Jim" Paul Kidd, 80, of Jane Lew, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.

He was born on November 11, 1945, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the son of the late Bernard Paul Kidd and Ruth Bennett Kidd.

Jim attended Norwood Grade School and graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School. He was a junior member of the Stonewood Volunteer Fire Department and attended the Stonewood United Methodist Church, formerly located on Cost Avenue in Stonewood.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army Tank Division while stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he built a successful career as an insurance salesman, where he enjoyed meeting people and helping families throughout the community.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim found great pleasure in fishing and especially excelled at muskie fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and competitive shooting. One of his greatest joys was spending time outdoors, watching the deer and other wildlife that found comfort and safety on their property.

Jim had a special talent for working on his beloved Ford 8N tractor and took great pride in keeping it running. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan and loved country and bluegrass music. Not only did he enjoy listening to music, but he also played several string instruments.

Cabin Lane Kennels was Jim's vision. He was instrumental in constructing the kennel buildings and operated the business for many years. Jim and his brother, David, were also the original owners and founders of WV Auto Detail in Glen Elk over 50 years ago, a business now known as WV Auto Glass.

Jim will be remembered for his kind heart, friendly personality, and the meaningful relationships he built throughout his life. He treasured his friendships and appreciated the simple moments spent with those he loved.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, David L. Kidd and wife Doris; his dear friend and companion of more than 20 years, Patricia "Patty" Stamm of Jane Lew; and several extended family members and dear friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his his father, Bernard Paul Kidd, in 1991, and his mother, Ruth Bennett Kidd, in 1986, one sister; Karen "Susie" Kidd, in 2025; and one brother; William "Billy" Kidd, in 2021.

Jim’s family will forever cherish the memories they shared and the love he gave throughout his life. His service to his country and the kindness he showed to others will be remembered by all who knew him.
