James Edward Fairchild

James Edward Fairchild, 93 of Clarksburg passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the VA hospital in Clarksburg, WV. He was born June 14, 1925 in Hardy KY; the son of the late John and Della Sparks Fairchild.

Mr. Fairchild proudly served in the Navy during World War II.  He retired as an accountant from Swift and Co.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carter Fairchild; one brother, Gerald Fairchild; two brother-in-law’s, Danny Williamson and Clarence Sparks; and a son-in-law, Terry L. Murphy.

James is survived by his two sisters, Eloise Sparks and Gloria Ann Williamson of Williamson, WV; daughter Angela R Murphy of Clarksburg, WV; grandson Sean Murphy and wife Roberta of Clarksburg; granddaughter Kristi Williams and husband Jason of Clarksburg; eight great grandchildren, Chase Murphy, Autumn Barnhart, Allysha Barnhart, Ryon Barnhart, Terri Murphy, Andrew Perine, Kilee Williams, and  Taylor Williams.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 3-8pm; Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 12:00 pm with Reverend Josiah Pitts presiding. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and US Navy Reserve.
