James William Cox, Sr

James William Cox Sr. 70 of Clarksburg passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at his residence. He was born April 18, 1955 in New Martinsville to the late Beulah Jean Bryan Cox.                             

James graduated from Magnolia High School in 1974. James was a manager for Hifi Oil & Gas until he was injured. He liked to listen to country gospel music and play guitar, being a true Chevy man, James also liked to trade and sell cars.

James is survived by one son; James William Cox Jr. and Wendy, Philippi; one grandson, Cody William Cox; three sisters Victoria Atkins, Burton, WV, Elizabeth “Beth” Cottillion, Venice Beach, FL, and Frances “Jeanie” Brisson, Sarasota, FL.

James was preceded in death by Ruth Marie Cox on November 16, 2022, his beloved wife of 47 years; one son, Christopher Joshua Cox; one sister, Mabel “June” White; two brothers, Andy Perry Cox and Charles Joseph Messoria.  

Family will receive friends at the Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr. Rt. 98, Clarksburg on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 3:00 -7:00 PM and on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ronnie Beeson officiating.
