Jacob "Dave" Davis Post

Jacob “Dave” Davis Post, 83 of Lost Creek passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his residence. He was born November 20, 1940, in Clarksburg, son of the late Jacob “Jake” Showalter and Jane Davis Post. 

Dave graduated from Victory High School, Class of 1958, Salem College Class of 1962 with B.A. in Education, and West Virginia University Class of 1970 with a Masters in Math Education and Supervision. He worked at Watters Smith State Park, Harrison County School Board of Education as a Math and Algebra teacher at Lost Creek, South Harrison, Norwood and last at Broadway. Dave retired from teaching and later went to work at World Wide Equipment in Jane Lew. He was a member of Bible Baptist Temple for over 40 years. Dave’s joy in life was spending time with his family. He was an avid gardener and waited each spring for “good weather” to begin planting. He shared his harvest with family and friends. Dave cared for horses throughout his lifetime and a wide array of animals that found their way onto the farm.

Dave is survived by his son, Jacob “Walt” Walter Post and wife Karen, Good Hope; son-in-law, Gregory “Greg” Abraham, Lost Creek; four grandchildren, Joel Abraham, Lost Creek and fiancée, Sarah Burns, Caleb Abraham, Pittsburgh, PA, Jake Post and Jeremy Post, both of Lost Creek; one sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Post, Jane Lew; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death on September 26, 2022 by his wife, Nancy Lee Cunningham Post, whom he married on June 3, 1961 and daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Denise Abraham on December 30, 2023. 

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301 for visitation Monday, April 22, 2024 from 2-8 PM and on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Charles Madaus officiating.
