Ismael “Mike” De La Cruz Ortiz

Ismael “Mike” De La Cruz-Ortiz born June 6,1961 to the late Domingo De La Cruz-Chávez and Oralia Ortiz-Verdeja in Tenexpa, Guerrero, Mexico departed this life on March 6, 2025 at the age of 63. He passed peacefully at home in Clarksburg, WV surrounded by family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Antonio De La Cruz-Ortiz and Efraín De La Cruz-Ortiz.

Mike is survived by two daughters Coty Felda of Clarksburg, WV and Ismaela “Oralia” De La Cruz of Live Oak, FL. Five grandchildren Nayeli, Johnathan, Layli, Ariana, and Alaia. Two brothers Inés De La Cruz-Ortiz and Antonio De La Cruz- Aguilera. Four sisters Elvia De La Cruz-Ortiz, Virginia De La Cruz-Ortiz, María De Jesús De La Cruz-Ortiz, and Azucena De La Cruz-Ortiz. As well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Mike worked in underground utility construction for many years in the Northern Virginia area. After sustaining an injury, he was employed as a storekeeper where he loved interacting with his customers until his retirement.

Mike will be remembered by those who knew him as a generous man who would go above and beyond for anyone, he met despite the personal challenges he faced. He will be missed, but never forgotten!

No public memorial service is planned at this time.

Falleció en paz en su casa de Clarksburg, West Virginia, rodeado de su familia.

A Mike le sobreviven dos hijas, Coty Felda de Clarksburg, West Virginia y Ismaela “Oralia” De La Cruz de Live Oak, Florida. Cinco nietos, Nayeli, Johnathan, Layli, Ariana y Alaia. Dos hermanos, Inés De La Cruz-Ortiz y Antonio De La Cruz-Aguilera. Cuatro hermanas: Elvia De La Cruz-Ortiz, Virginia De La Cruz-Ortiz, María De Jesús De La Cruz-Ortiz y Azucena De La Cruz-Ortiz. Además de una gran cantidad de sobrinos y sobrinas.

Mike trabajó en la construcción de servicios públicos subterráneos durante muchos años en el área del norte de Virginia. Después de sufrir una lesión, fue empleado como comerciante, donde le encantaba interactuar con sus clientes hasta su jubilación.

Mike será recordado por quienes lo conocieron como un hombre generoso que haría todo lo posible por cualquier persona que conociera a pesar de los desafíos personales que enfrentó. ¡Lo extrañaremos, pero nunca lo olvidaremos!
