Ida Hawkins Obituary

Ida Jane Hawkins, 86, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 in Bridgeport at United Hospital Center.  She was born on April 23, 1937, in Lost Creek, a daughter of the late Clark Hustead and Mildred Longwell. In addition, she was also preceded in death by her stepfather Pete Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her husband James T. Hawkins, who passed away in July 2004.

She is survived by one son, Alan W. Hawkins of Clarksburg along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her three sisters, infant Wilma June Hustead, Leoda Mae Devericks, and Helen Ruth Glover.

Ida was a graduate of Victory High School, class of 1957.  She was a nurse’s aid for many years.  She began her career at St. Mary’s Hospital and then worked for Heartland Nursing Facility for 30 years, until her retirement.

She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends Kitty Wilson, Dave Wilson, and Gertie Smith.  She also enjoyed gardening and camping. 

Family will receive friends for visitation at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301, on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  Interment will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park.  Condolences may be sent to www.DavisFuneralHomeWV.com.
