Howard William Dodd

Howard William Dodd 78, of Mount Clare passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at his residence with family by his side. He was born on August 23, 1943 in Glen Falls, WV, son of the late Paul Lewis and Pauline Blanch Pyle Dodd.

Howard graduated from Victory High School, Class of 1961.  He was a General Contractor owning his own company for many years.  He enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits and vegetables he and his wife raised. Also his hobbies included bee keeping, woodworking, and spending time with his family; especially the grandchildren and his four legged companion, Bridgette.  

Howard is survived by his three sons, William “Brian” Dodd and Lorie, Marshall, VA, Kevin Allen Dodd and Janice, Winchester, VA, Shawn Ellery Dodd and Dona, Haymarket, VA; six grandchildren, Megan Dodd, Alyssa Dodd, Kyle Dodd, William Dodd, Joshua Dodd, and Erin Dodd; siblings, Mae Louise Smith and husband Frank, Shelbyville, IN, Deloris Mildred Paugh, Nutter Fort, Charles Edward Dodd, West Milford, Linda Larson, Kokomo, IN; Lavern Harman and husband Dorrel “D.G.”, Clarksburg; numerous nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his wife Sondra Joyce Barnes Dodd on October 15, 2021 and whom he married on July 21, 1963; one brother, Hubert Blaine Dodd; like a sister, Marcilee Maxwell.  

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive Clarksburg/Nutter Fort, on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 3-7PM. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 10:30AM with the Pastor Charles Madaus presiding. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
