Herman "Marty" Hussmann, III Obituary

Herman “Marty” Martin Hussmann, III, 74, of Wallace, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 3, 2025.  He was born on March 17, 1951 in Pemberton, NJ a son of the late Herman Hussmann, Jr. and Mary Ann Grover Scully and her husband Alvin.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Bates Hussmann, who he married on October 9, 1981.

He is also survived by four daughters, Rebecca Swiger and husband Justin of Sardis, Janie Cox and husband Ed of Wallace, Helen Lavelle and husband Dennis of Pittsburgh, PA and Mary Ann Squires and husband Justin of Wallace; grandchildren, Austin Swiger and Dylan Swiger, Nicci Elliott, Morgan Cox, Riley Lavelle, Katie Lavelle, Sophia Squires and Declan Squires; great grandchildren, Kayden Thompson, Brody Swiger, Waylon Bridges, Ben Elliott, Eliana Elliott, Amelia Kimball, Gabriel Cox and Elizabeth Cox; siblings, Brenda Emmons and husband Walt, Rick Hussmann and wife Pamela, Bernice Hinkson and husband Wayne and Jay Hussmann and wife Heather; and two special friends who he spent a lot of time with at the “Shady Maple Saloon;” and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson Jerry Cox.

Marty proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.  He worked in the construction industry with the laborers Union 379.

He enjoyed living in West Virginia, hunting, fishing and looking for Ginseng and Mushrooms.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
