Harry "Percolator" Johnson Obituary

Harry V. Johnson, “Percolator or Perc”, 77, as he was known to most, of Saltwell Road., Bridgeport, passed away on November 24, 2024 at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, where he had been a resident there since August 14, 2024.  He was born on August 11, 1947, a son of the late Paul “Jake” Walter Johnson and Colleen Callison Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Patricia “Patty” McDaniel Johnson.  They were married on March 25, 1967.  He is also survived by a son, Harry Carl Johnson and wife Regina “Jeannie”; brothers and sisters, Jerry, Randy and Larry, Cathy Roy and Tammy Christopher.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Hazel Callison who were Dad and Mom to him.  His maternal grandmother, Florence also preceded him in death; one brother, Jimmy Johnson.

Harry lived with his grandparents in Barbour County at Bear Mountain.  In the 1960’s they moved to Bridgeport.  While living in Bear Mountain, Harry attended the two-room school there. After moving to Bridgeport, he attended Bridgeport High School, where he graduated in 1966.

In 1968 he was drafted into the Army and served in South Korea on the DMZ at Camp Casey.  He was proud to be a veteran and always said he would do it again if his service was needed.

Together with his wife, they owned and operated a dump truck service, H. Johnson Trucking and also owned North Central Paving.  Harry loved the paving business and took pride on doing each job as if he was doing it for himself.  His son Carl is now carrying on the tradition.  He enjoyed working on the farm and the trips he and Patty took to Florida in the winter.

Harry’s family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and all who helped care for him during his stay at the WVVNF.  They and the hospice nurses and aides who were there for him went above and beyond to help both him and the family.  We also very much appreciate our friends and the people who cared about him for the support and encouragement they provided to us.

Mr. Johnson requested to be cremated.  A private military service will be held at West Virginia National Cemetery with Military Honors.  A Celebration of Life service will be held by the family at a later date.  Online condolences can be made at www.davisfuneralhomewv.com. Davis Funeral Home is honored to serve the Johnson family.
