George Lee Sutton, 67, of Medina, passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer, leaving this earth to enter his heavenly home.
George was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 7, 1957, to George and Jerry (Nay) Sutton. He attended Brunswick High School and graduated in 1976 before continuing his education at Cuyahoga Community College.
George devoted his life to public service through his work with the Medina County Highway Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he later retired.
When not working or spending time with his family, George loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His appreciation for nature and his steady, caring presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sherrie; his children Jamie Charlton, Samantha Toporowsky, and George (Ashley) Sutton; and his cherished grandchildren Abigail, Allison, Riley, Maggie, Alex, Anna, Aiden, Olivia, Lilly, and Bella (his “fur grandpup”). He is also survived by his parents, George and Jerry (Nay) Sutton, and his siblings Mark Sutton, Alan (Laura) Sutton, and Carol Sutton.
George’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday evening, 10/30/25, at 7 p.m. in the Carlson Funeral Home - Medina chapel, 3477 Medina Rd., Medina, Ohio 44256, with Pastor Don Bolich officiating. Calling hours will be four hours prior to the service from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Coplin Church Cemetery in Salem, WV, on Saturday, 11/1/25.
Family will receive friends at the Reynoldsville Baptist Church, 3043 Wilsonburg Rd, Reynoldsville, WV 26422 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:00 AM until time of funeral services at 12 Noon with Pastor Jon Hayes.
