George Byron Simons

George Byron Simons, 84, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 5, 1941 in Bridgeport, a son of the late Byron Denver Simons and Effie Gale Garrett Simons.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn White Simons, whom he married on May 12, 1962.

He is also survived by three daughters, Michele Allman and husband Robert of Morgantown, Melissa White and husband Michael of Bridgeport and Marsha Simons of Clarksburg; five grandchildren, Garrett White and wife Danielle, Shannon Allman, Joshua White, Christina White and Lily Allman; three great grandchildren, Brooks, Briar and Ozzy; one sister, Mabel Franks of Louisiana.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Simons and two siblings, Anna Squires and Kay Morrison.

George was a graduate of R.W. High School, Class of 1959. Throughout his life, he worked many jobs, including positions at G.C. Murphy, Thorofare, the Data Center, and Pittsburgh Plate Glass. He later began his career with the United States Postal Service, where he dedicated 32 years of faithful service before retiring. His strong work ethic and sense of responsibility were evident in everything he did.  He was a member of East View United Methodist Church

George took great pride in his home and family. He enjoyed gardening and meticulously caring for his lawn, finding satisfaction in the simple rewards of hard work. He played an active role in raising his children and built his own home, a lasting testament to his determination and skill. A loving husband and devoted father, George was also a natural caretaker, always willing to help and provide for those he loved. He enjoyed traveling and making memories with his family, and he will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the quiet strength he brought to those around him.
