Gary Hyre

Gary Hyre, 74, of Clarksburg passed away at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. He was born in Richmond, CA on November 11, 1946, the son of the late Leonard and Elma Jean Watson Hyre.

Gary worked as a land surveyor for many years and worked for Hornor Brothers Engineers as Chief Surveyor.  He enjoyed being outside, hiking, and going on picnics. Gary also loved to watch game shows and play basketball.

Gary is survived by his wife of over forty-four years, Donna McClendon Hyre; children, Tammi Marie Hyre, Clarksburg, April Jean Mabry and Dennis, Buckhannon, Gary Wayne Hyre and Elana, Montgomery, AL, and Michael Sean Hyre, Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Zana, Zoe, Winter, Alisha, Brianna, Kayla, Tia, Landon, Christian, Kaleb, Madison, Scotty, Anna, Audrey, and Calista; many great grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Connie Curry and Dave and Louanna Holton and Ray.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by one son, Adam Hyre and one brother, Leonard Hyre.

A joint Celebration of Life Service for both Gary and Adam Hyre will be held at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301, on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow in the Reception Room.
