Garry Lester Parson

Garry Lester Parson, 83 of Shinnston, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at his residence. He was born on September 14, 1941 in Louisa, KY, son of the late Drew Parson and Maxi Alva Chapman.

Garry was a graduate of Lawrence County High. He worked as a timber cutter at Gump Logging. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading Western books, and watching Gunsmoke. He also loved to watch all types of West Virginia sports and the Steelers. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Garry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Parson, whom he married on June 30, 1966.

In addition to his wife, Garry is survived by 5 children, Ryan Parson of Shinnston, WV, Tracy Reed and husband Joe of Enterprise, WV, Scott Parson and wife Shelly of Bossier City, LA, Jason Parson and wife Jenny of Dola, WV, Pam Atkins and husband Buster of Verona, KY; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; 5 siblings, Bill Parson, Gale Treat, Jerome Parson, Johnny Parson, and Rosemary Younger.

In addition to his parents, Garry is preceded in death by 5 siblings, Nancy Harshe, Jimmie Parson, George Parson, Kenneth Parson and Phillip Parson.

Per his request he donated his body to science.
