Fred Wallace Martin, 84, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on July 28, 1941, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, the cherished son of the late Walter Martin and Laura Violet Dorsey Martin.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army. He dedicated many years of his life to his work, first as a foundry superintendent with Solan Valve and later as a foundry engineer with Mathews International Corporation, where he remained until his retirement. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 0017.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Eliza Buozek Martin, whom he married in April 1987; his three children, Laura Murphy and her husband John of North Carolina, Christopher Martin and his wife Antonia of Illinois, and Mary Kathleen Martin of Illinois; his two grandchildren, Ryan and Nina Martin; his sister, Zella Keener of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his siblings: George Martin (Dorothy), Robert Martin (Eleonor), Rex Martin (Ofelia), and Bonnie Kobus.
Fred found great joy in fishing and, above all, in spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a deeply generous man. His love for his country and for those around him was evident in all he did, and he will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association West Virginia Chapter, 1601 2nd Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387
