Frances Lenore Hurst, 92, of the Marshville Community, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on November 30, 1933 in Spelter, West Virginia, Frances was the daughter of the late John David Bailey and Charlotte Emma Lambert Bailey.
A 1952 graduate of Victory High School, Frances was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family and serving her Lord through music. She also enjoyed a career in retail, working for Stone & Thomas, Elder-Beerman, Hallmark, and Shoney's, where she was known for her friendly smile and kind spirit.
For many years, Frances faithfully shared her gift as a pianist at Hepzibah Baptist Church and later at Coplin Church. The melodies she played filled sanctuaries with comfort and worship, leaving a lasting impression on all who heard her.
Frances found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. Whether gathered around the table sharing stories, cheering on WVU sports, enjoying Hallmark movies, following Donald Trump, or listening to the music of Carrie Underwood, she treasured every moment with those she loved. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and loving heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her children, Brandi Ritter and husband Gregory of Marshville, Jason Hurst and wife Tammy of Hepzibah, and Eric Hurst and wife Stefanie of Fairmont; her beloved grandchildren, David Ritter, Danielle Ritter, Joseph Hurst, Allison Hurst, and Maggie Hurst; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Ava, Wyatt, Brady, Ashlyn, and Reagan.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by loved ones who welcomed her into eternal rest.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and love shown to Frances and her family, especially Miranda, Rachel, Kendra, and Shane. Your kindness brought comfort during a difficult time and will never be forgotten.
A private graveside service will be held at K of P Cemetery in Salem.
Though the piano keys are now silent, the beautiful music Frances created through her life of faith, love, and devotion continues to echo in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy will live on in every cherished memory, every family gathering, and every song that reminds them of her gentle presence.
