Floyd Lewis George, 88 passed away peacefully with his family at his side on January 14, 2025 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV.
Floyd was born on April 12, 1936 in Clarksburg, WV to the late Walter Oliver and Virgie Viola Batton George.
He married Betty Lou Miller on June 18, 1960, who precedes him in passing on July 4, 2001.
He is survived by one son, Mark Allen George and wife Kim of Summit Park; three grandchildren, Chelsey Kaitlyn Epperly and her husband Dylan of Bowie, MD, Matthew Caleb George and Ashley Elizabeth George both of Summit park.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard George, Danny George, and Terry George; four sisters, Frances Rinebold, Linda Woodruff, Delilah Savina, and Mae Brooks.
Floyd was a roofer by trade. In the 1970’s he owned and operated Better Roofing. He retired from Murray Sheet Metal in Parkersburg and continued to be a member of the Roofers Union 242.
In 1980’s Floyd and Betty fulfilled their dream of owning a small farm where they enjoyed gardening and raising livestock. Floyd loved his grandchildren who enjoyed spending time on their farm playing pool, riding horses and hanging out in the tree house and playhouse he built for them.
He loves animals and would taken in any stray that found its way to his door. He enjoyed listening to country and western music and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Graveside services will be held at Griffith Cemetery, Glen Falls on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 1:00pm.
