Esther Ellen (Mitchell) Pennington

Esther Ellen Pennington, 77 of Sun Valley, Clarksburg passed away on August 30, 2018 at her residence with family by her side.  She was born May 1, 1941 in Lochgelly, WV, daughter of the late Deward William and Mary Ann Wilshire Mitchell.  Esther worked in the dietary department of United Hospital Center for ten years.  She also worked at Standard Exterminating Company as a secretary for six years and was co-owner of Continental Coffee Service for over forty years. Her hobbies included: country music, camping, fishing and being outdoors.  Over the years, her and her husband floated the South Branch of the Potomac and Camp at Wapocoma in Romney. She was the driver for all her friends to Jamboree in the Hills. She was also on the Ladies bowling league at Compton Lanes. Esther was a huge football and basketball fan, especially her WVU Mountaineers and Liberty High School  She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Willard Vernon Pennington; two children, Debra Kay Toothman and husband Frank, Clarksburg, Willard Scott Pennington and wife Emma, Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Crystal Joann Greynolds and husband Kevin, Brittany Michelle Coberly, Franklin Scott Toothman and wife Amy, Travis Ryan Pennington; seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Mylee, Becklynn, Dahlia, Presley, Jolene; one sister, Ruth Ann Nutting, South Haven, MI; sister-in-law, Dorothy Pennington, Ashland, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Lisa Pennington, Oak Hill, WV; special friends, Bill and Sue Hawkins, Clarksburg, Scott and Susan Fluharty, Martinsburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clayton Tatum; brother-in-law, Lenard Pennington. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 3:00 – 7:30 pm; Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Duane Adams presiding.
