Ernest Carl Hawkinberry, Sr.

Ernest Carl Hawkinberry, Sr., 83, of Grafton, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025 in Morgantown.  He was born on December 23, 1941 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late John Hawkinberry and Dollie Pauline Walker Hawkinberry.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nina D. Pyles Hawkinberry who passed away on November 21, 2015.

Ernest is survived by four children, Eric Hawkinberry of Grafton, Lydia Hawkinberry of Lagrange, OH, Joseph Hawkinberry and Ernest ‘Buddy” Hawkinberry; four grandchildren, Brian Hawkinberry, Michelle Hawkinberry, Jennifer Hawkinberry and Jessica Buckosh; great grandchildren, Joseph Hawkinberry, Kelsey Carroll, Hayden, Ella Buckosh and Chance King; one brother, John Hawkinberry.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kathleen Hawkinberry and one sister, Connie Handley.

Ernest was employed with the Ford Motor Company for over 30 years in the shipping and receiving department.  Ernest will be remembered as a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life like farming, hunting, and spending time in the great outdoors. He had a kind and caring heart and was always willing to lend a hand to others. Ernest’s helpful nature and gentle spirit touched all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed.
