Eileen Rodriguez Hamlin, 97, of Clarksburg, passed away on January 15, 2026, while residing at Maplewood Nursing Facility. She was born on February 8, 1928. Eileen was the beloved daughter of the late Florentino Rodriguez and Ramona Gonzales Rodriguez.
Eileen married the love of her life James Franklin Hamlin on January 5, 1946. She was a proud graduate of Salem College. Eileen was an extraordinary mother, grandmother and aunt. She loved playing baseball, basketball, shooting marbles and played jacks with her three children. She loved to crochet, embroider, cooking and baking. She made her home with her son Arthur for several years, he cared for her until she went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Eileen was Arthurs whole world and he was the love of her life. Eileen attended Simpson Baptist Church and worked for Matthew Brothers until she retired in 1993, she previously was the assistant manager at Ben Franklin store and A Mar brothers in the 1940’s, after the war she worked at GC Murphy’s.
She is survived by her daughter; Mary E. Kelley of Philippi and the late Roger Kelley, Son; Arthur L Hamlin of Clarksburg whom she made her home with for the past 10 years until 2024 when she was placed in Maplewood Nursing Facility, one sister; Shirley Rodriguez, two granddaughters; Patricia and husband Terri Bradley of Philippi WV, Rhonda and husband Brian Talbott of Belington, four great grandchildren; Shawn M. Kelley of Bridgeport, Taylor P. Talbott of Belington, Adam Mayle of Parsons, Trey Bradley of Montrose, three step great grandchildren; Beau Bradley and Wife Samantha, Celeste Goodnight and husband Andy, Alexis Robinson, four great-great grandchildren Parker Kelley of Philippi, Adeline Talbott of Philippi, Hartsel Mayle of Parsons, Paisley Bradley of Montrose, step great -great grandchildren, Harmonie, Remington, Kyrah, Gracie, Colt and Abel.
In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James F. Hamlin Sr. whom passed away February 5, 2009, two infant sisters, brothers and sisters in law; Joseph Rodriguez and wife Sue, Andres Rodriguez and wife Virginia, Isabella Rodriguez Cattaneo and husband Leonard, Estella Rodriguez Ravens Croft and husband Alan, Virginia Rodriguez Felosa and husband Carl, Frances Rodriguez Sanders, Katherine Rodriguez Pratt Williams and husband Wendell, son; James F. Hamlin Jr., one great grandchild; Tanner J. Talbott in 2024, her mother and father in law Mary Ware and James F Hamlin.
Family and friends will be received at Simpson Creek Baptist Church, 231 W Philadelphia Ave, Bridgeport, WV 26330, on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 3:00-7:00PM and on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 12Noon with Reverend Dr. Sean Wegener officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
