Earl “Wayne” Devericks, 83, of Clarksburg passed away on Tuesday May 5, 2020 at the Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1936 in Clarksburg, son of the late Jennings Earl and Violet Leah Snyder Devericks.
Wayne graduated WI High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for years at Al Schroath Oldsmobile in Clarksburg in the body shop and opened Wayne’s Auto Bodyworks in 1982 until retirement in 2007. His hobbies were collecting cars, riding motorcycles, boating, camping and deer hunting. He was a member of the Clarksburg Hermon Masonic Lodge 6 A.F. &A.M, and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Wayne is survived by two children, Michael Wayne Devericks and Jo, Cheryl Lynn Meredith and John all of Clarksburg; two step daughters, Kelly Kiser and Steve, and Kris Simon; eight grandchildren, Corey Devericks, Bobbi Jo Ridenour and Jason, Tracy Messenger and Jeffrey, Stephanie Black and Jeremy, Katie Devericks and fiancé Mack Knight, Shawn Wayne Shingleton and fiancée Tabby Scott, Christopher Alan Shingleton and Amanda Hannon, Kiernan Kiser; fifteen great grandchildren, Gracie, Bowen, Wesley, Raylyn, Karlee, Mahaylee, Merritt, Landree, Colt, Miley, Brayden, Christopher, Andrew, Lakota, and Kyler; sister-in-law, Ruby Devericks, Anmoore; and the many other extended family members impacted by Wayne’s life.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Devericks.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg on Monday, May 11, 2020 from 2:00PM-4:30PM with proper distancing and face mask required.
Visitation on Monday will be followed by a Drive-Thru Viewing from 5:00-7:00 PM. Visitation on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from 9-11AM with proper distancing and face mask required, followed by a Private Funeral services at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Bobby Perine officiating. We will be webcasting the service on his memorial page on the funeral home website. If for some reason the webcast drops we will finish recording and reload once completed to watch.
