David Watkins

David “Shorty” Markwood Watkins, 90, of Follansbee, previously of Clarksburg passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Brightwood Center. He was born on February 22, 1934, in Clarksburg, WV, son of the late Markwood Pierce and Virginia Lee Burton Watkins.

David graduated from Victory High School Class of 1952. After graduation, David served his country in the United States Navy from 1952-1955 on the USS Soley. David retired from Signode Steel Mill. David was Christian by Faith and loved the Lord. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

David is survived by his wife Joyce Deluca Watkins; three children from his first wife, Ruth Fazzini: Rebecca, Karen, and David; two step-sons who were more like his own sons, from his late second wife, Catherine Watkins: John Cain and wife Chris of Grafton and Jeff Cain of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Jon’paul Cain, Amy Dunham and husband Josh, Andrew Cain and Ryan Cain and wife Tiffany; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his sister, Sara Jane Watkins Cork Goodwin.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301 on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 11:00AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00PM with Minister Terry Bell officiating. Interment follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Harrison County Honor Guard.
