David Duaine VanHorn, 63, of Jane Lew and formerly of Lost Creek, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 in Jane Lew. He was born on August 24, 1961 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Bernard VanHorn and Mildred Runyon VanHorn.
He is survived by two siblings, Robert “Bob” VanHorn and wife Sandy of Lost Creek and Sharon Willie and husband Mike of Lost Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Bradford VanHorn.
David was a proud graduate of South Harrison High School, class of 1979 and honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy for two years. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, David loved the thrill of football season and the camaraderie it brought. He also found joy in the great outdoors, especially camping and fishing, where he could relax and connect with nature. In his spare time, he enjoyed creating string art, working on model cars, and putting his hands to projects that reflected his creativity and patience. David was known for his ornery sense of humor and his zest for life. He had a good-natured spirit, a generous heart, and a way of making those around him laugh and feel welcome. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he leaves behind will continue to bring smiles to those who knew and loved him.
Family will receive friends at the Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr. Rt. 98, Clarksburg on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon, with the funeral time at 12:00 noon with Reverend Tim Kelley presiding. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors. Online condolences can be made at DavisFuneralHomeWV.com. Davis Funeral Home is honored to serve the VanHorn Family.
