Obituary
David Lee Cox, age 74, of Clarksburg, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 13, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on July 24, 1948, the son of the late Charles “Paul” and Mary (Black) Cox.
Mr. Cox graduated from Shinnston High School in 1966 and entered the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Fox’s Pizza. David was a generous man with a great sense of style and humor. He had a knack for creating something from nothing, telling whimsical stories, and making everyone around him feel welcome. David will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by: a step-son, George Yost (Sabine) of Clarksburg, WV; 2 sisters, Patricia “Patty” Swiger of Elkins, WV; Donna Sayres (Mike) of Shinnston, WV; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dennis Swiger.
In honoring his wishes, David’s body was donated to WVU Medical Science. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at the family picnic.
