Dana Lee Lloyd Lantz, 79, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, July, 1, 2020 at United Hospital Center. She was born January 18, 1941 in Parsons, WV, the daughter of Wayne Jefferson and Ila Anita Piercy Lloyd.
Dana grew up in Elkins, WV as an only child and spent many summers atop Laurel Mountain at her Grandma Piercy’s farm. She graduated from Elkins High School in 1958 and then went to work for the C&P telephone company where she was a secretary for 15 years. Dana was a Mountain State Forest Festival Princess in 1959 and a Strawberry Festival Princess in 1960.
Dana met a handsome man named Winfield Scott “Sam” Lantz in the summer of 1961, fell deeply in love, and married him six months later on November 23rd. Their love story spanned 49 years until Sam passed on March 24, 2010. They raised three children together, two of which were adopted. Dana was the “June Cleaver” of mothers. She made sure her family had three home-cooked meals every day including packing her children’s lunches for school. She generously donated her time as a parent volunteer to Wilsonburg Elementary School during her children’s grade school days. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and spending time with her dear friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg. In her later years she loved being with her grandchildren just sitting on the porch telling stories or playing games with them like Dots or Dominos. Dana also loved her ice cream- her favorites being raspberry soft serve from Toni’s and caramel praline. The last eight years of her life she was blessed with a second love, Billie Nichols, who brought the smiles and laughter back into her life after losing her Sam.
Dana is survived by her children, Nikki Gibson and Jason, Bridgeport; J. Scott Lantz and LeeAnne, Palmyra TN; Michael Lantz and Shawna, Clarksburg; grandchildren, Senior Airman Nikolaus Rogers, Ashley, Austin, Alyson, and Aidan Gibson, Zyan and Beckham Lantz; two sister-in-laws and their husbands, Myrtle Nestor and Dale, Beallsville, MD; Judy Arbogast and Bob, Belington; two brother-in-laws and their wives, Paul Lantz and Sandra, Belington; Jerry Lantz and Jeni, Philippi. She also had many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Dana will be remembered by her thoughtfulness, kindness, and never-ending positive outlook. She lived a blessed life with no regrets and her love and memory will live on. I’ll leave you with her favorite quote that she abided by:
Live well,
Laugh often,
Love much…
Rest in peace, Mama. We will miss you.
