Constance Louise Strother Forinash, 82, of Clarksburg died March 6, 2026 at Genesis Salem Center after an extended illness.
She was born March 23, 1943 at Clarksburg, WV to the late William P. Strother and Justina Cool Strother.
She was married July 15, 1989 at Duff Street United Methodist Church to the love of her life, Colin Lee Forinash, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2005.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara F. Sims; special niece and nephew, Shannon Langford and Dorsey Shreve, III; and several special cousins, great-nephews, a great-niece, and step-grandchildren, Chase Eagle and Anna-Eileen Forinash.
She was a member of the Victory High School Class of 1961, and attended Fairmont State College and Salem College where she received a degree in home economics and education. She was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority and counted many of her sorority sisters as lifelong friends.
She was a lifetime member of Duff Street United Methodist Church where she was active in her women’s circle for many years. Throughout her life she belonged to several civic organizations in the Clarksburg community and enjoyed cheering on the WV Mountaineer sports teams.
In 2005, Connie retired from her career as a teacher in the Harrison County Schools where she spent her career teaching reading to children, and often their own children, in Harrison County. She took a great interest in enriching the lives of young people through books and reading and kept in touch with many former students.
She enjoyed photography and loved taking and sharing photos of friends and family. She will be remembered fondly for her warm laugh, her dedication to her faith, for nurturing young learners both family and students, and her “look” that could instantly quiet any classroom.
Private interment at Plant Cemetery, Sardis, West Virginia.
