Clifford "Linn" Butcher

Clifford "Linn" Butcher, 84, of Mount Clare, WV, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 7, 2024. He was born on December 24, 1939, in Weston, WV son of the late Clellie Cleo and Edna Mae Simmons Butcher. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbra Jo Griffith Butcher who he married on July 6, 1991.

Linn retired from Mobil Oil and worked on the gas pipeline and Appalachian Tire. Linn was known for his love of gardening and his produce. He and his wife Barbra sold produce at the local farmers markets, where they met and became friends with many wonderful people. He was a member of Mount Clare United Methodist Church.     

In addition to his wife, Linn is survived by his daughter, Linda Marie Butcher (Robin Wilson) of Tampa, FL, and Linda’s mother, Sue Beebe; three stepdaughters, Tammy Lynn Griffith, Lost Creek; Debbi Ann Griffith, Jane Lew, and Amy Jo Griffith, Fairmont; three sisters, Carolyn M. Romine, Mount Clare, Patricia S. Blankenship, Meadowbrook, and Mary E. Summerfield, Milton; special nephew and best friend, Joe Butcher (Ann), Lost Creek; several in-laws, several nieces and nephews; his Chesapeake Bay Retriever and sidekick, Lord Chesterfield III; three cats, Suzanna “A boy named Sue”, Rascal and Momma.

In addition to his parents, Linn was preceded in death by one sister, Connie L. Hobbs and two brothers, Donald L. Butcher and Larry K. Butcher.

Family will receive friends at Mount Clare United Methodist Church, 29 Chub Run Road, Mount Clare, WV, on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 3:30 PM with Rev Steve Engle officiating. A dinner will be served in the church social room following the service.
