Charles "Eugene" Stutler Obituary

Charles Eugene Stutler, age 57, of Lost Creek, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on September 2nd, 2024 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, with his devoted wife, son and daughter by his side. He was born on November 20th, 1966 in Weston, West Virginia to the late Russell Wayne Stutler and Linda Sue Lowther Stutler. Eugene graduated from South Harrison High School in 1985 and remained a lifetime resident of Lost Creek gaining many friends along the way. After graduation he worked for Bertram Trailer Sales as a welder. For the remainder of his life he was employed as a coal truck driver for J and W Trucking, Circle M Enterprises and finally Randy Moore of Harco Trucking Company of Shinnston, West Virginia. He was a loyal employee who rarely missed a day working. His strong work ethic was second to none and could also be described as diligent, dedicated and reliable. He always believed in going out early and coming home late.

Eugene was married to his very best friend, and the love of his life Becky, also known as his “little honey”. They were married at the age of 19 on June 21st, 1986 at Johnstown United Methodist Church. They were blessed with 38 wonderful years together. His lifelong, unwavering devotion to his wife and children is in a class of its own. Their needs, along with the needs of countless other relatives or friends, were put even before his own. His love for his wife was written all over his face and was a man who would have given her the moon had he been able to reach it. He will be forever missed and her heart will never be the same.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and will regret not being able to take that trout fishing trip with his good friend, Reggie. He also had a love for gardening, canning and was a true jack of all trades- but of course, a master of none in his own words. Eugene’s most treasured time however was always spent with his family and especially his grand-babies.

Eugene is survived by his spouse, Rebecca Lynn Gettings Stutler. One son, Samuel Charles Stutler (Casey) of Glen Falls, West Virginia and one daughter, Cynthia Malynn Stutler (Randall) of Bridgeport, West Virginia. He is also survived by five joyous granddaughters; Charlee Maelynn Stutler, Ellis J Stutler, Audra Rae Stutler, Caylee Marie Riffle and Addalynn Nicole Paige Riffle. He was adored as a Papaw and we will eternally grieve the loss of him in the lives of his grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and four sisters; Roger Lowther, Robert Stutler, Leroy (Natalie) Stutler, Kitty Lowther, Charlotte Hall, Alicia Stutler, and Mary (Myron) Long; mother-in-law, Cynthia Gettings; two  sisters-in-law, Tammy Gettings, Lorrie Henderson(Ron); three brothers-in-law, Walter Gettings II(Tonda), Jason Gettings(Pam), Tommy Gettings(April) and his “bestie” sister in law, Kim Maddox Gettings as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by one brother; Glen Lowther and one sister; Donna Stutler, along with one brother-in-law, Jess Powell III, and his father-in-law, Walter Gettings.
