Charles “Charlie” “Bowels” Washington, Jr. Obituary

Charles “Charlie” “Bowels” Richard Washington, Jr., 83, of Clarksburg was called home on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He was born on April 6, 1941 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Charles Richard Washington, Sr. and Eula B Washington-Bailey.

Charlie was a family man. He always loved being around his family and friends more than anything. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the ones he loved. He was very proud of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, he didn’t hesitate to let them know just how proud he was of them. He never passed up a good meal and didn’t forget to let you know just how great the meal was. Charlie served his country in the United States Marines. He worked for AFG Glass Factory where he became union president and retired. After he retired, he mentored many after him. His love for politics started there. He was strong, fierce and fought for what he believed in. Charlie also grew up loving sports, especially basketball and football. He touched many lives through his years and was loved. He will be missed by so many.

Charlie is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Sherry Washington; three children, Sabrina Washington, Lauren Washington, Bubby Washington and Christine, and Heather Washington; grandchildren Antonio and SeAnna, Brooklyn, Rhaya, Lexton, Chazz and Darian; great grandchildren, Kiara, Kensley, Sniyah, Jazlyn, great great grandchildren, Mateo, and Matias; siblings, Audry Washington Saunders, Donald Washington and wife Theresa, Lesta Washington, and Grace Hileman and husband Jerry; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his step-father, Louis Bailey; sister, Edith A Jackson and brother in law, David R Jackson; mother in law, Wilma Jean Rock Harris and Father in law, James Harry Greaver.
