Billie Mae Drake, 87 of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the Clarksburg Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born July 24, 1932 in Clarksburg, WV; the daughter of the late James and Mamie Musgrave Drake.
Billie is survived by her brother, Wes Drake, Clarksburg; nieces and nephews, Pam Fleece Preston and David, Bridgeport, Tiffy Thompson, Clarksburg, Linda Tolley Raffle and Les, Austin, TX, Debra Lipps, Spelter, Rhonda Brady, Clarksburg, Colleen Glover, Clarksburg, and Tammi Stout, Nutter Fort, Robert J Drake, Clarksburg, Teresa Sears, Clarksburg, Stacy Bastin and Paul, Bridgeport, Erin Bleier and Asa, Swannanoa, NC; and great nieces and nephews , Charlie Hall ,Tess Hall , Jessica Thompson , Joey Thompson , Michael Fleece and Jacquelyn Fleece .
In addition to her parents, Billie is preceded in death by her sisters, Edith Stewart, Patricia Stewart Hitt, Betty Devericks, Shirley Conrad, and nephew, Stephen Hitt.
Billie graduated from Washington Irving High School, Class of 1950.
She was an owner of Betty Bright Cleaners, and Stewart’s Dry Cleaning with her sisters, Edith and Patty. After selling the drycleaners, she started her second career at Walmart #1544 and retired with twenty-five years of service. Billie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Clarksburg, where in her younger years, she taught Sunday School.
Family and friend will share stories and celebrate the life of Billie M. Drake at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Ramsey officiating.
A private interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
