Betty Merle Walker, 93, of Jane Lew, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Mansfield Place in Philippi. Born on December 17, 1932, in Little Rock Camp, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Edna M. Cunningham Baumgardner.
A proud high school graduate, Betty lived a life defined by devotion and simple joys. She found happiness with her hands in the soil of her garden, carefully canning the fruits of her labor, baking for those she loved, and creating warmth and beauty through her patchwork quilts. Known as a true country mother, Betty welcomed everyone with kindness, wisdom, and a nurturing spirit, becoming not only a loving mother but a trusted friend to all who knew her.
Betty shared 75 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Paul Walker, a partnership built on love, perseverance, and unwavering commitment. She leaves behind her beloved children, Malinda Halim and her husband Yasir of Altoona, Pennsylvania, and David Walker and his wife Amy of Volga, West Virginia; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Walker, Marissa Walker, Alexis Larabee Rogers, Lydia Flickenger, Stephen Chilcote, Ariell Chilcote; and her treasured great-granddaughter, Olivia Walker. She is also survived by Jeanna Renzelli, who was like a daughter to her heart, along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her life.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Dorsey “Dick” Bumgardner.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, hard work, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Per Bettys wishes she will be cremated. Interment will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
