Betty Jean Cottrill

Betty Jean Cottrill, 87, of Clarksburg, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at River Oaks Healthcare Center in Clarksburg.  She was born on September 2, 1937 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late William Willie and Opal Garnet Starkey Cottrill.

She is survived by four children, Judith Fleischer and husband Ken, Sharon Haynes and husband Ronnie, Cathy Ritchie, and Steven Ritchie; six grandchildren, Christin Anniannis, Julie Grimes, Rebekah Haynes, and Kelsey Haynes, and Amanda Haynes, and Krystal; five great grandchildren, Louis Conti, Josephine Anniannis, Stephan Anniannis, Sam Grimes, and Bo Grimes.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Griffin and Sandy Swiger.

She was employed as a secretary for VA Hospitals in Clarksburg, Atlanta and Orlando, as well as working for the American Cancer Society.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and baking.  She was an avid supporter of the Democrat party.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
