Barbara Jean Tabor, 85, of Clarksburg, WV and formerly of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at The Salem Center, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. Born on June 7, 1940, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late John William Kennedy and Edna Pearl Pratt Kennedy.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind her loving children, JoAnn Starkey and her husband John of Clarksburg, and Alfred Howard of Stone Mountain, GA. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Amanda Starkey, John Starkey and his wife Emily, and Scott Starkey. Barbara also carried great joy and anticipation for the arrival of her great-grandchild, Quinn, whom she eagerly awaited with love already in her heart.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Tabor, and her sister, Marjorie Carr.
She dedicated many years of service working in Information Technology for the CIA, where her intelligence, professionalism, and strong work ethic earned the respect of those around her. Beyond her career, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures, quilting and crocheting beautiful handmade treasures, enjoying bingo nights, and attending shows and plays with family and friends. A proud snowbird, she looked forward each year to escaping the winter cold for sunny days in Florida. She was a true social butterfly who never met a stranger, and her warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit touched countless lives. She loved deeply, especially her family and friends, and was known for being both compassionate and firm, offering guidance, support, and strength whenever it was needed. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Honoring Barbara’s wishes, she will be cremated. While she may no longer walk beside those who loved her, her spirit will forever remain in their hearts, woven into family traditions, treasured conversations, and the countless lives she touched with love, grace, and strength.
