Arthur Burkhammer Obituary

Arthur D. Burkhammer, 85, of Salem, passed away on January 27, 2026 in Salem.  He was born on January 3, 1941 in Weston, a son of the late Harley Floris Burkhammer and Frances Pickerall Burkhammer.

He is survived by two siblings, Dennis Burkhammer of Bridgeport and Robin Honaker of Fairmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepmother, who raised him, Genevieve Posey; siblings, William Sanford, Jean Baxter, Clara Jane Posey, Sharon Carter, Karen Dinkelo, Ronnie Burkhammer, Jerry McKee, Roy “David” McKee, Larry Burkhammer and Roger Burkhammer.

Arthur was a farmer for many years, a calling that spoke to his love of the land, dedication, and strong work ethic. He also had a deep interest in mechanics and took great satisfaction in fixing, building, and tinkering with anything that needed attention, often using his skills to help others. Arthur enjoyed taking long walks, finding peace and contentment in the quiet moments outdoors.

Kind and gentle by nature, Arthur was a truly giving soul who would help anyone without being asked, never expecting anything in return. He had a playful streak and a subtle sense of humor that brought lightness and smiles to those around him. His warmth, generosity, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will be remembered with love and gratitude.

Donations may be made to his CareFund on his memorial page.
