Arden Elder Obituary

Arden Jay Elder went to his heavenly home on Tuesday October 1, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born at home in Clarksburg on April 18, 1939, son of the late Cecil and Alma (Flesher) Elder.  Arden “Jay” graduated in 1957 from Victory High School.  He married Carolyn (Rogers) on September 5, 1959, who preceded him in death on May 17, 2016. Following a tour in the US Marine Corp, he worked at Lockheed Martin for forty years until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of AFLCIO Local IAM 1027 and lifetime member of the Clarksburg V.F.W. Post 573.  He loved watching his grandchildren, playing sports and enjoyed listening to bluegrass and old country music. He is survived by his three girls, Tammy Marple & husband, David, Clarksburg, Jeannine Romano & husband Roland, Bridgeport, Celeste Elder Vaughn & husband Chuck, Clarksburg; five grandchildren, Jason Marple , Bryan Marple & fiancé Damien Jones, Michael Romano, Jeremy Marple, Maria Stonestreet & husband Adam; eleven great grandchildren, Taylor Marple Fogg & husband Matthew, Kaitlyn Marple, Andrew Marple, Mykaela Marple, Jeremy Marple II, Emmalee Marple, David Marple II, Jersie Marple, Avaiah Marple, Aadyn Marple, & Brantlee Marple; one great-great granddaughter, Emmalyn Grace Fogg; special grandchildren, Benjamin Angotti, Joseph Angotti, & wife Sarah, & daughter Scarlet, Thomas Angotti, Molly Angotti, and Amelia Angotti; dear friends, Michael and Janet Angotti; one brother, Ronald Elder, Greensboro, NC; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one infant brother Donald. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 2:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Davis Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Rev James Harris. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Marine Corp.
