Anna Eleanor Matheny

Anna Eleanor Matheny, 90, of Clarksburg, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.  She was born in Greenwood, WV a daughter of the late John Rufus Lang and Nola Mae Kelley Lang.

She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin O. Matheny who passed away on January 31, 2012.

She is survived by one son, Mark Matheny and wife Terry Lynn of Clarksburg; three grandchildren, Jason Matheny of Clarksburg, Josh Matheny of Bridgeport and Christopher Matheny and wife Tiffany of Bridgeport; one great grandson, Alvin Christopher Matheny; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger Matheny; and siblings, Iva Potts, Ruby Ashcraft, Wilma Poleski, Wana Matheny and Florence Strokas.

Anna was a graduate of Doddridge High School, class of 1952.  She was a proud homemaker and loved taking care of her family and also loved taking care of her neighbors. Through the years, she also took jobs as a manager, working in restaurants and kitchens and waitressing.  She wrote many poems as well and even having some of her work published.  She was a member of Christian Apostolic Church and was a devoted Christian.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 4:00-7:00PM. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:00AM with Pastor Doug Joseph presiding. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
