Ann L. James, 88, of Weston, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at United Hospital Center. She was born on July 19th, 1936 in Warrenton, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Tuttle C. Palmer and Josie Sloper Palmer. She was preceded in death by her husband of years, Raymond W. James, Sr., who passed away on April 22nd, 2004.
She is survived by her son Raymond W. James, Jr. and his wife Martha of Fairmont; a daughter, Deborah R. Bailey of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Sam Bailey, Mary Bailey and John Bailey; and great grandchildren, David Bailey, Brayden Bailey, Jaycie Bailey and Kinsley Johnson of Virginia. Also, long-life companion James “Jim” T. Peters; and special friends Heidi Helmick and Judy Wilfong.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David G. Bailey.
Ann was a 1955 graduate of Osborne High School, and worked for the Federal Government as a Secretary for the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office at Cameron Station in Alexandria, VA until her retirement in 1993.
The highlight after her retirement was volunteering for five years, at a physical therapy department of Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Edinburg, Virginia. She loved to play bingo with Charlotte three nights a week. She was also a long-time member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Fairfax, Virginia.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, West Virginia, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Donna & Bill Taylor presiding. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
