He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Dennison Carder, whom he married on August 18, 1969. He is also survived by two daughters, Becky Wick of Shinnston and Amy Tate of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Amber Nelson, Walter “Jamie” Tate, III, John Allen Wick and Sara Tate; two great grandchildren, Hudson Nelson and Rashelle Tate; one sister, Mary Carder of OH; and his beloved dog “Penny.”

Allen, lovingly known as “Caveman,” passed away surrounded by his family. A hardworking man, he spent many years as a truck driver, proudly working for Gary Amos Trucking. Caveman’s passions carried him far beyond the road. He loved the thrill of dirt track racing and NASCAR, and he cherished every chance to go 4-wheeling with his grandchildren. He also served his community as the former Chief of the Reynoldsville Fire Department, a role that spoke to his dedication and sense of responsibility. Though quiet by nature, Caveman had a playful side that shone through with his children and grandchildren. He loved his family deeply and lived his life devoted to his wife, who was the center of his world. Friends will remember him as a good man with a kind heart, one who enjoyed sitting back, laughing, and reminiscing about days gone by. Caveman leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and treasured memories that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 am. Online condolences can be made at DavisFuneralHomeWV.com. Davis Funeral Home is honored to serve the Carder Family.
