Alicia Maria Barker

Alicia Maria Barker, 91, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at her home.  She was born on March 5, 1933 in Costa Rica, a daughter of the late Adilio Fonseca and Rosario Rojas Richmond; and her stepfather, Jose Santiago.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Franklin Delano Barker, Sr. whom she married on April 6, 1954 at the Rodman Naval Station Chapel in Panama CZ.

She is also survived by two children, Franklin D. Barker, Jr. of Murrietta, CA and Steven L. Barker of Clarksburg; fourteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; one stepbrother, Jose Santiago, Jr., Mario Fonseca and Sandra Santiago.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Jose Antonio Barker.

Alicia graduated from High School in San Jose, Costa Rica. She came to the United States after she met her husband where they settled to raise their family.  She was an excellent self taught seamstress.  She also enjoyed working in ceramics, she had her own shop in Costa Rica. She also worked as part of the secretarial staff in the OBGYN at United Hospital Center.  She enjoyed all types of crafts, knitting, making jewelry, and sewing.  Her children and grandchildren were her whole life.  She always made an impact whenever she met someone and was always willing to give a hug, she was affectionately called  ”Momma” by all who knew her.
