Abner Dale Allen, 66, of Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in Bridgeport. He was born on October 4, 1959 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Jesse Lee Allen and Helen Ratliff Allen.
He is survived by his fiancée, Barbara Hardy; several brothers and sisters, Geneva Mcclamrock of NC, Judy Gabrels and husband Bobby of GA, Richard “Sam” Allen and wife Cindy of Bridgeport, Ruby Fratt and husband John of Bridgeport, Brenda “Sue” Greynolds and husband Jaimie of Clarksburg, Ernie Allen and wife Sis of Clarksburg, Louise Collins of Salem and David Allen and wife Paula of New Zealand; many nieces and nephews and cousins; and the entire Hardy family, who adopted him in to their family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marshall “Buddy” Ratliff; nephew, Michael Todd Allen; and brother-in-law, Jeff Collins; and one niece, Marsha Kay Hamm.
Abner was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, class of 1977. He was a giving, loving, and compassionate man whose adventurous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in his many years of employment with Dodd Corp, Sutter Roofing, Joe Honce, and Greg Callison and Jason Fratt of KFC Lawn Care. He was also a devoted member of Local Laborers Union 984, where he valued the friendships and camaraderie he built over the years.
Outside of work, Abner found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved tinkering on vehicles, spending peaceful days fishing, hunting and trapping, and listening to his favorite music. He had a knack for finding great deals and especially enjoyed bargain car shopping. Gardening was another passion, where he found relaxation and satisfaction in watching things grow. Above all, Abner will be remembered for his kind heart, generous nature, and the love he shared so freely with family and friends.
The family would like to thank Doctors, Davis, Schifflett and Choi for their excellent care he received, as well as Ali Johnson, and the nurses and support staff at United Hospital Center. A warm thank you to his friend John Stout and Mike Gallo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his carefund on his memorial page.
