Hermina Ann "Lena" Maseda

Lena Ovsak Maseda passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 a few weeks shy of her 99th birthday. Lena was the last Maseda spouse of her generation. She was married to Caesar Maseda for 53 years until he passed away in 1996. She lived in Northview after her marriage for 70 years.

Most important to her was her activity in St. James Catholic Church and Catholic Daugher's of America. Her parents, Cyril and Maria Yonovjak Ovsak, immigrated from Lipnice Welka in Slovakia to work in the coal mines of West Virginia.

Immediate family surviving are four children, Monica, Regina, Gary, Maureen, and their spouses, Peter, and James. Lena would brag that she had 12 grandchildren: Luke, and Erica Bockelmann; Robert, Paul, and Jonathan Harris; Amanda Louiselle, Tess Meyer, Thomas, and Anthony Edward Maseda; Sam, Jimmy, and Maria Lacaria. Spouses of grandchildren are Melanie, Natalie, Kelly, and Eric. Ten great grandchildren: Noah Harris; Cameron, and Aidan Harris-Cross; Claire, Nathaniel, Matthew, and Christian Bockelmann; Emilia, and Mateo Galarce; and Edward Meyer; two sisters, Jean Grisso and Angie Adams. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary (Mermer) Ovsak.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 12:00-8:00pm with a Rosary Service at 4:00pm; a Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11:00am with Father Akila Rodrigo celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. James Church Building Fund, 2107 Pride Ave, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
