William “Bill” Francis Fahey, 82 of Salem, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the Sundale Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was born January 29, 1937 in Freemansburg, WV; the son of the late Patrick Francis and Kathleen Pope Fahey. Bill was married in 1959 to his wife, Iris Lee Fahey of forty two years and she passed in 2001. They had four beautiful children, Tammy Reid and Mark, Kill Devil Hills, NC, Matt Fahey and JoLynn, McDonald, PA, Pat Fahey and Tammy, Eagar, AZ, Kelly Moon and Shawn, Concord, NC; ten grandchildren, Christopher Brown and Amanda, Lindsay Zirkle and Jeff, Braiden Fahey and Kelsi, Abby Gowans and Boonie, Logan Fahey and Morgan, Saidey Fahey, Joshua Fahey, Dylan Fahey, CaiLee Moon, and Seth Moon; six great grandchildren, Henry, Addison, Rease, Maci, Hadley and Ryker. Bill remarried on January 22, 2004 to Vickie Prince Fahey of fifteen years. He gained two bonus children Valerie Grunau, Clarksburg, Jeff McClain and Amanda, Clarksburg and two bonus grandchildren, Aiden Grunau and Gwen Keith; brothers, Gene Fahey, Salem and Paul Fahey, Fairmont; sister, Mary Jo Hickman, Salem; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, Bill is preceded in death by sisters, Helen Minnich and Mary Jo Richter; sister-in-laws, Joy Fahey and Betty Fahey; brother-in-laws, Thomas Hickman, Joe Minnich and John Richter; and son-in-law, Matthew Grunau. Bill was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salem. He graduated from Bristol High School and received his teaching degree from Salem College and masters from WVU. He started his teaching career in 1959 in Preston County at Kingwood High School. In 1960 he taught at Bridgeport High School and went to Bridgeport Junior High from 1963-1973. While teaching, he worked part-time as a meat cutter in the old A&P Store in Clarksburg from 1965-1968. In 1973 he became Assistant Principal at Bridgeport Junior High and Middle School where he became Principal in 1988. He retired from the Harrison County Schools in 1995. Bill had high expectations for not only his children, but his students. Honesty was his highest priority. Bill received many awards that he credited to his staff, students, parents and the community. His hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, spending time with his family and taking care of his farm. He never missed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved his family dearly and his two dogs, Dudeybug and Gator. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM with a vigil rite at 5:45 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00AM with Father Bill Anderson and Father Akila Rodrigo as co- presiders. Interment will follow at the Fahey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St Jude Plaza, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
