Norma Jacqueline “Jackie” White, age 90, of Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Genesis Nursing Home of Salem, following an extended illness. She was born April 2, 1928 in Bristol, WV, the daughter of the late William Edward and Ethel Mae (Price) Donnellan.
Jackie is survived by one son, Robert White and wife Pam of Salem; one daughter, Brenda Gill and husband Ralph of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Erin Campbell and her husband Adrian, Andrew White, Lori Loder and husband Fletcher and Kelli Gill; four great grandchildren, Ethan and Kate Loder and Neil and Mena Campbell; three sisters, Emma Fleming and husband Howard, Lorraine Treisch and husband Don and Sharon Agnew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 67 years, Robert Earl White, preceded her in death on July 31, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Mike Donnellan; four sisters, Karen Corder, Jean Gardner, Patty Hurst and Betty Hustead; and two brothers in laws, Don Gardner and Bob Hurst.
Jackie was a graduate of Bridgeport High School with the class of 1946. One of her first jobs was working at the Traveler’s Café with her sister Jean, where they both met their husbands-to-be and lifelong best friends, Bob and Don. Jackie married Bob on December 11, 1948 at the Lost Creek Methodist Church.
While Bob served in the United States Army, Jackie worked for a photography studio in Anniston, Alabama. Once Bob was discharged she worked at Bell Studios in Bridgeport and then was part-owner of Ideal-Sayre Studio in Clarksburg. Jackie was later employed at the Parsons-Souders and by the Harrison County Board of Education as a school cook, retiring in 1991.
Jackie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg. She was a member of the Clarksburg Quota Club, serving as corresponding Secretary and their Treasurer. Jackie also was an active member of the Clarksburg Post Office Auxiliary and Harrison County Senior Citizens Center.
Jackie and Bob were owners of camps along the Buckhannon River and openly welcomed families, friends, and friends of friends, to join in with camping, picnicking and all day Volleyball games. The later years she hosted “Donnellan’s Clan” Easter and Christmas Eve dinners at their home. She also enjoyed Thursday night Bingo. She loved and missed her furry companion, Megi her miniature schnauzer
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr, Clarksburg, on Friday, August 17th from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 pm with Reverend Elizabeth Baker presiding. Interment will follow at the Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery.
