Larry Michael Harris, of Clarksburg passed away at age 71 on September 29, 2018 in Clarksburg, due to an extended illness. Larry was the loving husband of Joyce Cottrill Harris. He was born on February 13, 1947 in San Francisco, CA, to the late Arthur and Rose Goldstein Harris. He grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ. Larry graduated from West Virginia University with his master’s degree. Larry served in the Army from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War, and was sent overseas to Germany during his tour of service. Larry worked at the Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, as a Social Worker, MSW, LCSW until he retired in 2010. He previously worked at United Hospital Center as a Social Worker, MSW, LCSW and WV Department of Health and Human Services in Child Services. He was preceded in death by his dogs, Samantha and Sam, whom he loved dearly; brother-in-law, Walter C. Bomhoff Jr, mother-in-law, Betty J. Buckhannon and several more family members. Larry is survived by his sons, Robert Harris and Melanie, Centerville, VA, Paul Harris and Natalie, Foster City CA, and Jonathan Harris of Clarksburg; sister, Mary Mizzie Munford of Perth, Australia stepdaughter, Stephanie Harman Storms; and nieces, Naomi Munford, NY, NY; and Miki Surock, Clarksburg; sister-in-law, Paula L. Bomhoff, Mt. Clare; grandsons, Noah Harris, Aidan Harris-Cross, and Cameron Harris-Cross; six step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; many cousins and wonderful friends, Rusty Maul, Rabbi Hample for his visits, and so many too numerous to mention. He also leaves behind his greatly loved dogs, Sara and Sydney. Larry had a passion for playing tennis, enjoyed football, going to tennis matches, music concerts, playing guitar, and spending time with his dogs, family and friends. He was a member of WVU Alumni Association, US Tennis Association, and PADI under Water Diving. We would like to Thank, Amedysis Hospice for their Exceptional Care and Friendship, always being here when we needed at the drop of a hat. No words are enough to tell you all just how much each and every one of you have meant to us: Amy, Crystal, Keith, Kristen, Christy, Sheila, Kathy, Miranda, on call Nurses, Dr. David Hess, Dr. Maurice Rhodes, and so many others who were always here for us. We Cannot Thank you enough. Thank you to The Staff at River Oaks where Larry had a brief Stay before his passing, for being very attentive to his needs and to his wife as well. They were of Great Support and understanding. Larry was of the Jewish faith. At Larry's Request, he will be cremated and chose not to have a service. Please remember him as a dedicated Social Worker and Friend.
