Joseph Edward Helms

Joseph Edward Helms, age 62 of Bridgeport, WV, peacefully left this world to be with the Lord and family in heaven on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. He was born September 25, 1955 in Clarksburg, WV; the son of the late James Edward Helms and Shirley Sue (Frum) Ash.

Joseph is survived by his brother & best friend, Charles W. Helms of Bridgeport, WV; a sister & brother-in-law, Robin D. & Richard H. Jones of NC; two nephews, Zachary and Zane Maditz of NC; a special sister-in-law & friend, Diane Smith of Bridgeport, WV.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, David P. Ash.

Joseph served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Word of Life Assembly of God Church in Sun Valley, where he always felt welcome and loved. During trials and tribulations on his life, Joseph felt Pastor George Mesto was a valued mentor.

Joseph was a spiritually strong man who will be remembered for his honesty and an open heart. He lived with and cared for the needs and wants of his younger brother, Charles “Chuck” Helms to the best of his ability. They shared many years of love and laughter together. “Joe” will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Per his request, Joseph will be cremated. There will be no visitation or services.
