Jack Lee Layman, 88 of Fairmont passed away on Saturday, November 09, 2019 at his residence. He was born on Sept 13, 1931 in Fairmont, son of the late Luther George and Jeanette Marie Weaver Layman. Jack graduated from East Fairmont High School, Class of 1949. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the Korean War where he was wounded twice. He worked at Owens Illinois and Alcan and retired from Novelis. He enjoyed riding his Harley and telling stories. He was a Master Mason at Acacia Lodge 157 AF&AM, Fairmont. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Marie Sell Layman whom he married August 10, 1958; three children, Luther Whitney Layman and Cindy, Dover, TN, Sandi Hoy and Edward, Fairmont, Manual J Layman and Janice, Clarksville, TN; five grandchildren, Jeannette Marie Hoy, Amanda Layman, Samantha Layman, Shelley Hoffman and Jason, Jack L Layman and Mickala; one great grandson, Killian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Madalyn LaFollette. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 1:30 PM at WV National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and US Army Honor Guard.
